Well the .280 AI passed proof
      #173484 - 20/12/10 11:23 PM

Not unexpected but it seems it will not get "home" until the new year. The proof house has one person in at work today and the chances of getting it put on a carrier back to the smith is minimal to zero and unless it can be aranged for tomorrow then as the proof house closes for the Christmas shutdown that's it until at least 4th January. Oh poo the rifle is in the white so I wonder what condition it will be after another 15 days minimum .

To say I am a bit miffed is an understatement and all because the damned post office lost the gauge otherwise it would have been done over two weeks ago .

A googly is usually an overhand ball, isn't it Gryph?

Hope the proofhouse is humidity controlled and your 280AI returns in as good a shape as it left you.

You are joking? .............................. right.

The proof house is in an ancient building and I doubt the heating is up to much. Let's hope I am wrong.

Malc the smith says he has to do quite a bit of polishing to remove the fine turning marks anyway so it should not be a problem. I however disagree and think rust will show up as spots unless more surface is removed in polishing which I would obviously like to avoid and of course ther eis the bore to consider. There will be hell to pay if that gets any pitting

But it's out of my hands
