Does anyone know why the 338/06 is not made in commercial rifles? To me it is better than the 35 Wheelen, 30-06, and 270. It can be loaded from 160 gr to 300 gr and the heavier bullets have awesome ballistic coefficients AND sectional density. Does it only need a famous hunter/writer to use it and praise it? It may not be as fast as the 338 Mag but does that really matter?

Weatherby chambered the 338/06 in their Ultra Light for a short time but it has been discontinued.
I would imagine the market for both the 338/06 and 35 Whelen is extremely limited as compared to the 338 Winchester.
While the market is also very limited for calibres like the 375 H&H, 416 Rigb, 458 Lott and most of the Weatherbys these calibres, unlike the 338/06, can be sold at much higher prices for ammo/components and rifles and therefore remain alive as factory offerings.
