I found a nice Whitworth 458.
Is there a way to make it not
bind when closing the bolt?

What do you mean by Bind ?

Do you mean the bolt locks up when closing it ?

When pushing forward on the bolt
pressure to the right causes the bolt
to bind. Lots of the Mauser type actions
will do the same. I am just wondering
if there is a fix.

Well, you can have the rifle polished by a good smith by doing the bolt and it's raceways and/or that and just working the action a few hundred times or more. Just make sure that the moving parts are properly greased with some thick stuff while working the action. It'll work in with enough patience. Just a dab will do ya.

Try getting some 'Pearl Drops' teeth polisher. It is highly abrasive. Put it on the bolt and raceways and work the bolt a few hundred times. This will polish it right up and remove any edges that are grabbing.

Don't use it on your teeth though.

Also don't forget to clean your action and the bolt well when done. Warm water works best.
