9three

As you can see people like DM, luv2, and myself[and my wife], that use and hunt with combination guns, really like them.

Choose wisely, be sure and get one that either is scoped, or that you will scope, as that really makes it a primo hunting gun.

Hello 9,3

I once shot a Blaser double rifle drilling in 2x 9,3x74R and 20 3".
The rifle was equipped with a removable barrel for .22 Hornet in the 20ga barrel.
This rifle was heavy but shot excepionally well. I tested it with 2 shots 9,3 biting and 2 shots biting one inch over the 9,3group.
The cocking lever on Blaser rifles is like an enlarged tang safety and has a stiff spring for cocking all springs for the three locks at once. I canīt use them in a hurry for I have small hands, therefore I would never buy a Blaser gun.
Triggers are very good on Blaser rifles, about 2 lbs really crisp letoff.

I would stay away from 9,3x72R, this is a weak cartridge (in Germany only allowed for game up to roe deer, and I think with justification!). This caliber has a very soft .364" dia bullet, not your beloved 9,3 (.366"), (also the velocity ranges for these two bullet are different,so please be careful!

Rolf

Danke sehr, Rolf!

Thanks for the description of the cocking mechanism of the Blaser rifles. The Blasers seem to be either loved or hated by shooters, but everybody weems to agree that they are well made guns. I am in a remote area here and have never even seen one of them.

I don't find the cocking mechanisim to be tough for me to operate - BUT - I only own R93's so far. There you're only cocking one mechanism, not two or three. I can see cocking three R93's at once with one finger would be tough.

When I dont know what to expect I choose my Valmet 212 combigun and thats only because I dont have a drilling. My valmet is 308 / 12/70 and I have used it from wood pigeons to Moose. It's printing sub moa groups and is extremely reliable. QD mounts and appropriate scope is needed for long range shots. I use mainly 1,5-4x scope because I need quick shots quite often.

The D 99's only have 2 locks. There is a selector that lets you choose if the front trigger fires the upper rifle barrel or the lower right barrel. The rear trigger always fires the lower left barrel.

The cocking stroke is a little longer than the R 93.

I had used the R 93 for a while before I got the D 99. I do not find the D 99 difficult to cock at all.
