French "Spur" shotgun. No brand evident. 12-bore, 65 mm 2 1/2 inch.
This shotgun has a round body, fair engraving. Checkering quite worn.
Pressing on the "spur" on the trigger guard opened the action, extractors only, assisted by the spring in the forend.
I was interested, $850, good price, I asked for it to be set aside, but the gunshop sold it in the four days before I returned. Damn, I liked it
I didn't take any good photos of the full length shotgun, but these were in the background of other photos.
Pictures of the closed spur which opens the extractor shotgun with the aid of the spring in the forend.

think, it was made before 1914, it were more different actions around then. after the war the toplever anson gun became the norm.

the belgian gunquarter was nearby,maybe you find a similar gun.
the spur opening was not completly unusual also on german made break actions before the great war.

Considered by many enthusiasts to be one of the most beautiful shotgun ever produced, the Manufrance Ideal is presented here in its most exceptional version: the "Ideal d'Art Type 356 Tir au Pigeon" model.
This 1937 gun is fitted with chopper lump, five palms, "Hercules" hardened steel 30" barrels, originally chambered 12-2¾" Gauge, choked Full / Full.
The specificity of their chopper lump dovetail assembly is typical of the high-end manufacture of Manufrance.
The rollers on the cartridge extractors, the sliding ejectors and the 1st articulated trigger bear witness to the meticulous care taken in manufacturing.
The system is equipped with automatic double safety sears and no longer includes a conventional manual safety blocking the triggers.
The rounded action, finished in French gray, with special detonators and "Ace of Spades" reinforcements has been superbly engraved with an ornamentation mixing foliated chiseling and scrolls, an exceptional execution modestly signed BURELLIER in the left "Ace of Spades".
The English type straight stock, made of beautiful French walnut, traditional stamp varnished, dispenses with the sling and the usual wood engravings, giving way here to a traditional flat checkering, as on the wood butt while the forend is locked by a Purdey type latch.
With a 14½" LOP this extraordinarily balanced side-by-side gun weights 6lb 15oz.
This Ideal seems to have been sparely used, the locking remains tight and the barrel bores are perfectly glass smooth, without any alteration.
No traces of disassembly have marked any screws and the tubes slow rust blue is the original one.
A testament to the highest French craftsmanship in exceptional condition, this Ideal "Ace of Spades" is one of the most elegant examples produced during the heyday of Manufrance.
I think the manyfrance ideal was made over decades in different grade. iirc, we had here also big bore double rifles (450 NE) with this action before.

Thanks. I do remember that unusual trigger guard shotgun, resending it on the thread.
And our forum friend, Dorleac, with another similar example.
The Dorleac also mentions the action has been used in double rifles, .450 NE. How cool one of those would be.
