Have you got some books or something else for me?

Kind regards and sorry for my bad english.

The Army Navy records are still held at a University in England. I forget which one. But a quick google search will reveal them.

Jaeger

What info were you after ?

Info on Army and Navy Stores, Army and Navy Doubles etc ?

Army and Navy ordered from whoever whatever the customer ordered.

They often used Webley or Webley and Scott for Double Rifles.

That gun looks like it is on the Webley Screw Grip Action.
The other well known action by Webley is the PHV1 action
which has a clover leaf type third bite that DOESN'T intersect with the Toplever mechanism (the Screw Grip does
intersect as you can see in the photos).

That Army Navy in the Holt's auction is a bit of a light weight.

"470 - 3 1/4 SOLID METAL CASE. 75GRS. CORDITE. 500 GRN. BULLET"
"weight 9lb. 14oz"

I've owned three different A&N double rifles, and all three were built on Webley PHV1 actions, all with Doll's head screw-grip rib extensions. Two were engraved with the typical Indian animals, and one was only minimally border engraved. All were very well made double rifles though not fancy! Being fancy doesn't mean much when what you need is dependability! Fancy doesn't stop a concentrated charge!

Either they were screw grips or they were PHV1. They can't be both.
The screw grip model is the A&WC.
The PHV1 only has a regular doll's head with a bite.
The auction gun is very nice and is a A&WC Screw grip.
Best regards,

Wildcattle you are quite correct! Mine were I think PHV1 actions with dolls head but I seem to remember all three had a slot in the nose of the doll's head for a third lock. So it may not have been a screw grip, but simply an extra rotation lock. It has been over 30 years since I owned those three rifles!
