there is a Hahnbüchsflinte on egun that will probably ending cheap if anyone is looking for such a 19.century beast. described as 16/65 shotgun barrel and 14x60R rifle barrel I would say the rifled barrel is chambered for the 28 ga lancaster bullet cartridge with 40mm long brass case. blackpowder only in this damascus barrels of course.

.552" is about 14mm. 14x60R = 60mm rimmed case is 2.37" long case. Should be quite a round! BPowder due to period of manufacture, ie: pre-smokeless period. Lefaucheux-type action? Very early maybe? 1870-ish, or maybe 1880's? I do not know how long this style of heavy German-style stock and French-style (front lever) trigger guard with horn rear part were used along with the horn take-down lever on the forend.

Quite intersting - for certain. I might be all awash in what I've described but that's how I see this wonderful 'piece'.

the seller was writing that he doesnt realy know what for a caliber it was and dont give any gaurantee on this . to my very limited experience with such stuff I am quite sure its the 28/40, 28 bore case 40mm long. believe it or not.
the Lefaucheux-type action was used on cheap guns up to the great war in germany but ass an old Fuchs you have notice that the stock design was much older and a little bit outdatet when this büchsflinte was made. I would say its made between 1870 and 1885 but you see such stocks on older muzzle loading hunting rifles.
probably made for a very conservative gentleman.

I would guess at the early 1870s. At least Adolf Zimmer in the 1877 edition of his book "Die Jagd-Feuergewehre Der Neuzeit" = The Hunting-Firearms of Modern Times recommended such bore rifles using shortened shotgun cases for German hunting. He dismissed those "New-fangled, small bore military cartridges with light bullets and large powder charges" as useless for hunting and outright unsportsmanlike, though he admitted their very flat trajectory. He was talking about such "small bores" like the 11.15x60R aka .43 Mauser. He also favored the Lefaucheux action and stock shape of this gun.
