I always run a couple of dry patches down the barrel of my M-l rifles to clean the bore of oil and then fire a couple of caps off to clean out the flash channels.

At the end of the shooting session I put a folded patch over the nipple and spray some wd down the barrels till I can see the patch soaking up wd. Then run a wd patch down the barrels.
