yes, you are right, it was the 250grs Barnes TSX recommended for the 45/70.
With a reduced velocity of ca. 605 m/s (2960 Joule of energy at the muzzle) the roe deer was shot at 60 meters, so the remaining 2500 Joules happened to be sufficient...
