Colorado, This is how I suggest you go about finding the best load for your muzzle loader: Start with 80gr of powder and shoot 3 shots from each barrel. As your sights are adjustable, don’t worry where the six shot group ends up on the target, you can move it later. Save your targets. Up the load to 90gr, and repeat the above procedure. Continue adding 10gr at a time until you reach 120-130. What you are trying to do is find the best COMPOSIT group. When shooting off the rest, hold the forearm in your hand and let the gun recoil as naturally as possible. Recoil is factored into the regulation. Things not to do: 1: different loads for each barrel. 2: using two sights. Things to do: 1: Be very precise 2: Be very consistent 3: Have much patience. Also, don’t mess with the chrono while you are finding the “regulation” load, it will be distracting. |
