Re: Double Triggers vs Single Triggers

Like MauserRifle, I think most triggers you would find on a double rifle will be very reliable. However, anything that can break, will break, when you need it most, in my experience.

The difference is, if a single trigger breaks the rifle is out of service for the rest of the safari. If it breaks while you are sighting in for the PH, then your light rifle better be able to take care of everything you are hunting, or you are out of service as well. If it breaks durring a charge, you may be more out of service than the rifle, in the end. At least if you have double triggers and one breaks, you still have a big bore single shot, rather than a 10 pound club in your hands.

Gentlemen, it is a matter of choice, and you are welcome to spend an extra thousand dollars for a single trigger on you DG double, if you want. I will spend that $1K on a second Buffalo, and still hit him with my double, even if one of my triggers breaks! A double trigger breaking can put the whole rifle out of service as well, but I'd like to see the odds of it happening compared to a broken single trigger doing the same!

Just like the manual safety, double triggers will always be my choice on any double I use for a DGR!
