That's not quite true. The rifle is made is Russia, which is a CIP member state, so CIP Proof standards are a matter of law there. The markings on your rifle are for CIP's standard pressure for .45/70 - 2200 BAR/31,900 PSI. This is essentially the same as SAAMI's standard 28,000 CUP. CIP's and SAAMI's protocol's are entirely different, thus different numbers for the same pressure. Marlin loads take it up to 40,000 CUP, which is beyond the proof pressure of this rifle.
