I went with the .405 (.411") instead of .416" because of the limited overall length restrictions of the Marlin. Bullets available in .416 are 400gr and they are too long for the Marlin rifle. This is one of the reasons why I decided on the Mosin Nagant as my project. You can fit a much longer cartridge in the magazine box and not always have to seat the bullet down to the crimp groove. This way you leave more room for gunpowder. You can also play with the COL. and use slower burning powders.
