If you aren't used to one, shoot a few rounds through it but don't over do it. Take your .30-06 along and after shooting the .458, the .30-06 will feel like a .22.
Most recoil effect is perception and going up a level makes the level below feel so much tamer.
Shoot it off hand not off a bench and the recoil felt with be far less.
