Baiting, mostly. Vegetation is too thick for spot and stalk. My editor and friend Mikhail Krechmar once sat for a brown bear with a client over a dead bullock. They picked up a good spot, well concealed and overlooking every way of approaching the bait. They stalked the blind really quiet, and sat there even quieter. When dusk was setting in, a Himalayan showed up at the bait. Then the brown gave his warning roar - some 20 meters behind them. He, too, also thought it was a great place to watch over the bait... (they got the bear. It was 2.8 meter iirc). |
