Thanks chaps,

But the point is precisely related to the above, as gun A is a Jones without third bite of any sort, and gun B is a top-lever with a cross-bolt third bite. There is a little pitting on the cross-bolt hole plate, or whatever it is called, is this worth worrying about at all then? Both are 577 bpe's and in very good condition. One more so internally,one more so externally, latter is dearer, and i want internal cleanliness i.e. bores etc the most.

I am asking merely, if the third bite having some pitting on it etc is great cause for concern, or not.
