Well I just use 40 gr of Goex 3F and a .390 ball with Wal-Mart 100% cotton pillow ticking as a patch.
I lube with Ox-Yoke 1000+ or Mink oil.
This load in my old 40 cal longrifle used to be able to cut a card or split a ball every time if I did my part. I could do it on demand FROM A REST*. I also used to shoot nickels with it from 25 yds.

(*which proves only the rifle and the load, not any shooting skill)
