Building A Hammer DR????

I have for quite some time now been mulling over building a DR and have many options as far as a donor shot gun. Has anyone out there made a DR out of a hammer gun ( as a hobbyist I mean ). The reason for asking is I have a W. P. Jones underlever,in excellent condition except for one thing **** the are barrels completely rusted through between the ribs. Would this be a good candidate for perhaps a 38.55 - I would prefer a .303 but suspect this would be too much pressure. Just need some suggestions from others who have travelled this road and the pitfalls I would face. Feel free to ask any ? you may have. --- John303
