A kangaroo is far faster than a moose and hops, does not run, so you have vertical movement as well.

As for a "self-guided" "cull hunt" most land in Australia is privately owned and the owner must give permission for a hunter to shoot or hunt on his land. Many hundreds of thousands of hunters in Australia try to get "cheap" good access and without good contacts or a willingness to part with some cash end up shooting rabbits on a friend's small block instead of medium size game hunting.

So not a lot of chance to get access to "cull" hunting, we call it hunting here BTW, and most game hunting with some exceptions is unregulated and mostly no limits, tags, etc. For a foreign based hunter wanting to hunt about the only chance is if either you spend a lot of time driving around asking for permission with the chance of nothing being achieved or having good friends who DO have access being willing to take the person out.

That is why most most international hunters hunting here hire the services of an outfitter. 1. Access to hunting country and 2. Supplies of vehicles, camping gear etc. 3. Shortage of time to do a LOT of asking to find a property. Nothing is going to be free or cheap in the end if you add up the total costs.
