Govt criticised over croc removal refusal
A central Queensland crocodile expert says the Fitzroy River is unsafe for recreational users while the State Government refuses to remove a large crocodile.

A risk assessment done by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service suggested warning signs, fencing and relocating bins from the water's edge as some of the alternatives to relocating the crocs.

But expert John Lever wants the crocs moved and believes the the State Government policy on crocodiles is flawed.

"I haven't seen the document but from all accounts it says there is a risk, but something the Government is prepared to take with people's lives in the ski gardens ... and I think that is absolute nonsense," he said.
