Both Mature moose I shot with the XTR .375 Winchester with 220gr. Hornady's at 1,940fps, dropped in 2 strides. I also shot 2 elk with a .45 Colt M94, 340gr. cast FN at 1,730fps. 1 dropped at the shot, the other went 70yds. and dropped. : I would say that's a bit better than "Skinny end" for sambur, considering those moose ran 800lbs. and 950lbs. each & the elk about 600lbs. to 700lbs. All you must do is to lung him and down he goes. : They actually dropped faster than close to 30 moose I've seen shot with 7mm mag and .300magnums.(guiding) Many of those were lung shot as well, but with that outrageous noise,(I assume) they run like h--l after being hit.
