Great round - and as flexible as they come.
: I've used the 350gr. Hornady RN up to 2,260fps in the shorter 2" 'American' chamber on black bear & moose with excellent results and nowadays load a 400gr. Barnes in a the larger, more powerful .458 Alaskan M70 at a reduced 2,200fps for wonderful results on moose and bear. Having more than enough power even when loaded down, makes the .458's a terrific all-round, ctg. here and abroad.
: It is a hunter's ctg., not a long range sniper-type round, although with good bullets and sighting, 400 yards is within reach for a very good shot.
: Most .458's are very acurate when shot well.
: I'm envious- great buy.
