Many years ago I picked up an unfinished gunsmithing project from a friend. I had a habit back in the day to pick these sort of things and set them aside as retirement projects.
The gun, a Greener Martini MKIII Police gun was virtually completed. A nice heavy barrel had been installed and sights mounted.
The stocks had been fitted but not finished.
The trigger is hard and the safety is iffy.
This has always been a round to-it project, with no real incentive to finish it.
Yesterday I was at my Outfitters Office picking gun I won at Auction. (Ruger No. 1 45/70 made in 1974.)
He was trying to sell me a Texas hunt and I really wasn't interested. I asked him what hunts he was going on this year and he told me about trip for Cape Buffalo in May next year. That interested me a bit but I was only lukewarm about going, when he told me that because my wife had bought a hunting rifle from him in the past year, if she booked a hunt he would cover 7days of the daily fees for her, she would have to pay her trophy fees.
When I got home I told here what the Outfitter said about getting 7 free days.
When she heard this you would have thought she got a 50% off coupon at Hobby Lobby.
In 2015 we did 10 days in South Africa and visited friends. That trip included a 3 days hunt for Warthog. She loved it.
My lovely wife says we are going to South Africa for our 75 Birthday hunt. Being the wonderful loving, dutiful husband that I am all I could say is "yes Dear".
So I need some loads for the 577-2-3/4" NE for Cape buffalo. How about some suggestions gentlemen.
