I made an early bid but did not follow up. It ended up selling for a pretty strong price.
The auction house described it as a G&H rifle with engraved floorplate but did not post any photographs showing the engraving or any G&H marks on the rifle. But because of the selling price, I'm sure I must have missed something. The sights, barrel and German style cheekpiece are certainly interesting. Perhaps the rifle was the subject of a magazine piece back in the day or had a famous owner. A photo of the engraving would have made all the difference.
Grateful for any insight.
