The folks who hate hunters or trappers will want to trap spay/neuter the feral dogs. That's what all the granola crunchers forced to happen with feral cats here.
After a few days of recovery if they are deemed too wild for adoption they are then set free.
The granola crunching crowd states that if you hunt down and kill the things a massive breeding trend will result as the dwindling population will sense that they are in peril and will "make" like rabbits to bring their numbers up.
Personally I think theres more than just grape nuts being munched on.
