Watching it, it illustrates the bovine mentality of follow the leader. When a gnu starts to run back up hill, four or five follow. On the island in the river, one runs backwards, some follow. Jump off a cliff, lets follow!

Two at the bottom had broken backs.

No crocodiles at his crossing.
