Mauser Model B in 9.3x62MM
      27/02/16 12:03 PM

Attached are photos of my Mauser model B in 9.3x62MM.The stock is showing some abuse in the form of scratches and the horn buttplate is chipped and worm eaten. The rear trigger was broken at some point and welded back together. The bore is bright and shiny with proud lands and grooves. The crown is very nice. All numbers are matching.

I do not have the scope. Perhaps in the future I will order some Recknagle claw mount parts and fit them to the existing bases. I have a couple of period scopes around that would be suitable.

I have not had it to the range yet and don’t know when I will. I doubt I will hunt with it as my disabilities have kept from the woods for a number of years now. But I live in hope.

The serial number puts the rifle in the 1928-1929 era, I would guess 1928.

The numbers on the barrel under the wood, 9,05 . 9,3 . 36 0 refer to a 9.05MM land diameter and a 9.3MM groove diameter. I do not know what the 36 0 means, maybe a proof house ledger number? Could it be the bore diameter in inch measurement? The 99,7 refers to the barrel caliber in the old German gauge sizes, it works out to be .360 diameter though a 9.3MM should be a .366”. I would welcome any information on helping to interpret these numbers.

I was thinking of getting a replacement buttplate from this company http://homesteadparts.com/shopcart/24/Buttplates.htm The replacement buttplate I am looking at is in the second row down in the middle, #860. Has anybody used them? Are they a good reproduction of the Mauser buttplates?

Vlad
