For sale in Canada.
Before anyone gets too excited let me state again that this rifle is missing the forend. I've tried tracking it down for the past several years with no luck. It's now time to sell.
The good news however is that this gun was originally purchased by hunting author H.C. Maydon in September of 1908. Here is a sample of some of his books. http://www.shakariconnection.com/hubert-conway-maydon-books.html
Aside from the missing forend, the rest of the gun is in "well used" condition. The are almost no traces of original metal finish, there is a selous plate repair to the wrist, the sights have been filed (see pictures) and the throat of the right barrel is considerably more "washed out" than the left. That being said, this guns is tight on face and the locks work flawlessly. Its also still in the makers case which bears Maydons name on the outside.
Included with the gun is an excerpt transcribed from factory records(provided by Chris Batha), summary of Maydons military career & photo, and a vintage hardcover book authored by him.
As for the missing forend, Vintage Doubles in Washington state just so happens to have a Charles Boswell in the same caliber, built on the same frame, with the same type of forend release and a close serial number. It even has similar engraving. I'd be willing to bet that the forend on his gun would likely fit and would be an excellent template to make a new forend. The owner Kirby Hoyt (great guy) would possibly be willing to send detailed pictures and possibly measurements to help. Here is a link to the page his gun is listed on, its the 3rd gun down. http://www.vintagedoubles.com/catalog/?sort=5
Like his, this gun has an extractor, not ejectors on the barrels. This of course greatly simplifies making a forend. *The Leopard on the bottom of the receiver looks more worn in the pictures than in real life*

These are the best pictures I've been able to take of the bores.

Here's pictures of the forend lug.

Here's the filed sights mentioned earlier

Here's the vintage HC Maydon book included with gun.

This is a picture of H.C. Maydon taken between 1903-1917.

My asking price is $6500 shipped anywhere in Canada. Any importing/exporting fees to be covered by buyer.
Thanks for looking,
Dan
