As far as the Registry is concerned - it no longer exists as a National Entity. It was ordered DESTROYED. HOWEVER - it does appear as if some - perhaps all, Provincial Chief Firearms Officers or perhaps Provincial Police Division Headquarters copied the data or simply did not destroy it as ordered by the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police - and actually kept what was left of this 'data'.

Unfortunately for them, the data was VERY corrupt - or corrupted- According tot he National Firearms Association, the "Registry" had been hacked 480 separate times, with data destroyed and stolen.

We were informed at one time, that you could actually purchases lists of firearms owners, their addresses and what they had in their collections, in local bars in Edmonton.

the "Registry" was far from secure and much of the data was lost or re-arranged.

In the High River gun grab last year, long after the 'records' were supposed to have been destroyed, the Mounties in High river used registry data to target homes where firearms had been registered prior. They smashed in doors and stole firearms form those homes where the people had been evacuated due to flooding.

When people went to the Detachment to pick up their guns, some were asked about 'extra' firearms they appeared to now have that 'weren't registered'. Of course the answers given was since there was no longer a registry I buy and sell as I want.

Do THEY, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police "Maintain the Right" - not any more - at least not in Alberta.
