Removing the wildlife, allows Cattle ranching to expand.
Botswana is rich in cattle. Rich in minerals.
For a long time they have wanted to expand cattle into wildlife rich areas. Tsetse flies and sleeping sickness has been the reason they have not. I read in the last few years about widespread serial spraying for tsetse fly. I guess if it worked, removing the game and wildlife through poaching will allow the cattle in.
