Erik,

For sure, Cairo has no shortage of trash! What I was thinking, however, was a bunch of particularly aromatic rotting fruit in combination with perhaps a stew bone from the local butchery wired to the base of a chain link fence separating my alley from the neighboring parking lot. The rotting fruit stench would carry for blocks obviously, and the wiring of the bone would prevent the local cats from making off with the bait.
