Hi, I'm new and looking forward to learning a bunch and sharing what I've learned (or think I've learned) when I can.

Could use some help on this topic. I've got a 30-06 Dakota model 76 and one in 375 H&H too. Both were equiped with Talley bases and their lowest rings, the 30-06 fixed and the 375 QD but I've found that the setup puts the scope a bit high for me. I'm in the process of changing out the '06 bases and rings for Dakota suplied Leupold etc compatable bases and a set of Leupold low or ultra low rings depending on whether the ultra low will allow bolt handle and objective clearence for a Leupold 2.5X8 VariX III. The bases should arrive today or tommorow. I want to keep the 375 set up with QD's and can live with the set up as is but would love to drop the scope height if possible. This rifle is matched with a 1.5X5 VariX III and a twin also in Tally QD rings for a spare or a different zero, range or bullet wise. This stuff is beyond my local gunshop's experience and while they're willing they have no suggestions.

Any thoughts or sugestions would be apreciated.
