Are African animals more wary also?
      03/03/03 04:11 AM

I have been thinking of the dificulty in hunting plainsgame. It is accepted as truth that African animals are tougher to kill than equal sized animals in NA and the South Pacific.

My question is, Are they harder to hunt?

I have hunted a bit in Africa and would agree with the statements that most shots are under 200 yards. Most of those shots are under 100 yards.

Do we agree?

Also, if you are on a guided hunt than your party usually consists of, at minimum, 3 people. You, 1 PH and 1 tracker. Sometimes, 2 trackers and a second hunter for a total of 5, maybe more. Vehicles putt around full of people and a number of animals are shot off of or close too the truck.

Do we still agree?

If this is agreed upon than how many of you, with deer, elk etc. experience think that you can have 3 - 5 people walk within 150 yards of a Deer or and Elk, in semi-open terrain, discuss size, set up shooting sticks and still find the Deer or Elk within a mile of you?

How many Whitetail could you see if 3 - 5 of you were wondering around the woodlot?

I know that everyone has a story about the Kudu or the Eland or the Red Hartebeast that he/she couldn't get close to. Or the 6 point bull that walked into the camp of hunters but I am talking in general terms.
