Boar killed...

Today was a good day: From walking the city streets of Darwin with my lovely wife, to meeting-up for a yarn and a cuppa with member Mog, and finally to getting-out into the scrub near home. I hiked into a bait from earlier in the week, and spied this boar feeding on it. I made it to a rest at 50m, but thought I might try to get closer. I made it to 30m, and the rascal lay down and went to sleep, disappearing. Despite the shorter grass, I could not see him. I made it to 20m, and could just make-out his form. One 410 grain RNSN Woodleigh from the Born Again .416 Rigby did the trick. The boar never moved. He looked to be a fighter, with a well-ripped ear. We have hardly any pigs in this vicinity compared to other parts of the Territory, and what few we do have are hit so hard by keen doggers. So the few that are around are like ghosts, and just to see one is a treat for the hunter on foot. The hard yards on foot paid-off, but I couldn't have done it without the bait. Cheers, Ben
