Thank you so much; now I understand how all the parts fit together, and how the whole thing functions; quite interesting it is. However, WITH ALL THE MOVING PARTS THAT OBVIOUSLY NEED TO FIT TOGETHER WITH QUITE CLOSE TOLERANCES, I WONDER ABOUT WEAR ON SUCH SLIDING SURFACES IN CRITICAL AREAS, WEAR THAT WILL LEAD TO INCREASED HEADSPACE MUCH FASTER THAN IN DESIGNS THAT HAVE NOT NEARLY AS MUCH SLIDING OF METAL SURFACES ON PARTS. DOES ANYONE ON THIS WEBSITE HAVE ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THIS SYSTEM, TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER THIS PARTICULAR CONCERN OF MINE?

They are inventive, and I doubt wear will be a factor in headspace. In the first place all parts are castings, and seem to be very hard material. I see that you are trying to learn here and that is commendable on your part. However part of learning is to listen to warnings as well. The poster who cautioned you about buying the Blaser was doing so from his experience with the rifle, and is to be commended for that warning. I think that usually someone who asks questions about a particular rifle in most cases are thinking about buying one, and I think that was his reason for the warning!

There is one other warning about the cocking system on the Blaser double rifle that needs posting for those who may not know! Many think the cocking system of the Blaser is the same as the Krieghoff double rifle and that is not the case.

When the Krieghoff double is broken open it cocks the rifle, then to make it safe after loading it the combi-cocking switch must be pushed slightly forward and released. This relieves the tumbler springs so the rifle can be carried fully loaded but can't fire. When the K-gun needs to be cocked the combi-cock switch is pushed forward(with some effort) to cock the springs. If the K-gun is fired and broken for a recharging of one or both barrels, the K-gun automatically re-cocks it's self so that when the rifle is closed on new ammo all that is required to fire the rifle is to pull the triggers.

The Blaser S2 double rifle automatically de-cocks the springs when the riles is broken open for any reason, and must be manually re-cocked before the rifle can be fired. This is not a good feature on the Blaser double rifle that may be used on dangerous game. If you fire one or both barrels on the Blaser, and re-load the rifle, when you close the rifle you better not forget to re-cock the rifle, especially in a very close encounter with something that wants to claw or gore you, because an un-cocked double rifle is not a rifle but a 12 pound club!

Warnings are not always for the poster they are quoting but for the benefit of all who may read the post! However, I hope the warning from me was something else you wanted to learn!
