What do you guys expect to pay here in Africa for say a 4-5 day safari with 4-5 animals in the package.Let's make it 1x impala,1x warthog,1x kudu,1x zebra and 1x Blue wildebeest? What do you expect to pay?And now the trick question-what are you willing to pay?

From what I have seen in ads in hunting magazines you can get a 7 day for
4500 dollars. This sounds reasonable to me and I would pay that.

Africa, wow, I would derley love to go to africa on safari!
My ambition in life, has been for a long while, to hunt a man eating lion, a really big male one. But I am told they hunt you at the same time you hunt them.
I would love to go to africa to shoot crocodile, I was watching a program on TV a few months back where the government hired two men to go and shoot crocodiles that were known man eaters and they trapped them and shot them with massive bullets.
I think for a 4-5 day safari with 4-5 animals I would be prepared to pay £3000
BUt realistically speaking, I have seen packages from £1500 advertised for 3 animals and 4 days safari.
The only problem is, I cant afford to pay even £1500 at the moment

Hi there Hunt375,

Yes you get that prices but it can be cheap or expensive. It depends on what you get for it and what animals there are to be hunted. They average day fee is US$280-US$300 so more or less half of the US$4500 goes for the day fees and the rest of it for the hunt itself. But yes I also think that US$4500 is good.
What will a 7 day safari in the US or Canada cost me?Or what will it cost to hunt an elk or one of those big things.Or maybe a bear?

US$4500 sounds like a fair amount for a 5 to 7 day hunt with the trophy fees included for the game listed. For South Africa or Namibia. You would pay a lot more in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana or Tanzania, no doubt about that. And if the hunt is on free range properties that would even be better. Some lower priced hunt packages are behind wire, which unless the property is large enough really isn't my scene.

And that's not a price most people can't afford if you really want to. With some hard saving, perhaps extra hours overtime or another part-time job, it can be done. And when you want to buy another rifle, think perhaps I could use one of my fully functional existing ones and hunt a kudu plus a warthog with the cash instead!

For me Africa is not just the big stuff, a plains game safari is an experience in itself. And thats what most guys do, at least the first time...... the once in a lifetime safari.... that becomes two or three!
