Bill, yes, they do. I have shot a number of tests with mine, removing and replacing the scope between shots. Holds zero very well. Mine is the top-swing mount.

I agree that the gunsmith is overly concerned. Set up right I have never heard of a complaint with Talleys and they seems to be a commonly used scope mount on such rifles.
