'Hello' Bruno ( Or should that be Brno ? )

Well here he is. After 10 years without a Jack Russell we have finally found a replacement. 'Bruno' at 3 weeks.

Our last JRT 'Rusty' was a stray we adopted at approx 6 mths of age. In fact, he found us by wandering up our driveway after being dumped at the end of our lane. He was the ultimate 'Tank' dog. Built like a Sherman Tank and fearless beyond belief. He would tree Goannas, throttle foxes and bring their carcass to the back door for approval, warn us of any approaching cars and strangers with a different bark that meant something different for every occasion. Having been flogged early in life he would not let a male near him but would suffer a female placeing him on her lap.

We lost Rusty while I was taking my 4yo son for a walk in the back paddock. Rusty let out a distinctive yelp and tore past me into the long grass just 1 metre from my son. I stepped forward just in time to see a Red Belly Black strike Rusty full in the chest. I grabbed my son and ran for the house and the .22lr.. Upon my return I found Rusty listless on his side with the 1.5 metre snake mauled from tail to neck and dead as a magot.

We rang the vet but he gave no guarantees and suggested we try to leave him to get over it. We fed him water all that day and night to try and flush the kidneys dealing with the poison but had to leave him the next morning to go to town. He died once we left him alone and I wish I'd had the guts to shoot him.

We haven't been able to get another JRT until we heard of this fellow and his 5 sisters. I couldn't leave him with 5 sisters. Mum has a bit of wire haired foxxy but Dad looks like Rusty: full chested and bull necked.

Bruno will have his place on the hunting truck and we will train him as Blood trail dog and carcass finder.

Warialda has two types of dogs, pig dogs and poofta lap dogs like female Maltese x Chihuahuas. Hopefully he will survive the pig dogs and have his wicked way with the toy dogs
