I agree with the last post -- generally. I have long been a great fan of Blaser. My first purchase was several years ago when I bought a R93 LRS2 in 308. I became enamored of the superb accuracy and fast and very smooth'straight pull' action. The rifle, with its integral rear monopad and adjustable stock was a joy at the range. Since barrel changing and, depending which cartridge 'family' you chose, changing the bolt head, was simple. I rapidly acquired a lot of additional bbls and the necessary bolt heads and magazines ranging from 223 to the 300 Win Mag (the 338 Lapua version demands a dedicated chassis.) Each round had its unique character, and the 6mm BR barrel, with incredible long range ability, zero recoil in this platform, and fast, multi-shot capability was simply astonishing.

I had no problems with the O/Us I have tried. However, I just could not get used to the S2 in 243 I special ordered -- and sold -- nor the bigger bore version I tried.

It was not the cocking mechanism or even the idea of a 'new fangled' safety/cooking system. I had no trouble adjusting to a like system on my Kriege Classic in 450-400 nor on my Merkel stakling rifles or O/Us. I simply didn't like the overall feel and balance of the S2 in lightweight or heavier iterations. Didn't feel right coming up to the shoulder nor did it seem to swing or point as I wanted.

So it is just personal taste. I will be out with the R93 LRS2 this weekend trying to win some money off my son in a casual match at 500yds, Blaser vs Sako TRG, with the 300 Win Mag bbl in place. But there isn't going to be an S2 in the vault in the foreseeable future. Dave
