I mounted a 2X Leuy on the .458 Alaskan M70. The straight tube allowed an exceedingly low and ridged mounting. On snapping the gun to the shoulder, the cross hairs were on-target every time. The fit and handling was perfect for dangerous game. With the low power even close shots can be made easily, yet on normal game, afforded enough magnification for deer, bear and moose to 300 yards. As with any sort of equipment, one must practice with it until it's second-nature. : Normally, for big game here, I prefer a straight power scope in the 4X range. For Africa, I think I'd want the ability of removing the scope without effecting the zero. This means top-grade mounts.
