I might be in a position to buy a W J Jeffery jungle gun and would appreciate some advice. The gun is not in good condition: no stock, trigger guard and the top strap is broken at the safety catch. The good news is that the barrels appear to be in excellent condition- they ring true and no pitting. The rifling appears perfect and 90% blue on barrels. The boxlock, sights and forearm are in good condition. I do have another action which I can cannibilize for a trigger guard and top strap. Restocking I often do as I am a left handed shooter and restock most of my doubles to fit me. The question is what do I offer this other guy for the gun? My argument is that, as is, the gun has no real value yet most people (especially sellers) seem to think they are worth a fortune. I think it is unlikely that he would restore the rifle himself. I must admit I would dearly like to add such a rifle to my modest collection. I also think it would be a perfect backup rifle in the bush. Is it a worthwhile project to pursue?
