The rifle may have to be shot in. That is a number of rounds through the action to settle the steel and compress the pin and the lugs.

This is not unusual but needs to be done when the steel is soft. The tolerances are unusually tight and the steel will compress as fired, thus allowing a normal operating rifle.

Usually 50-100 rounds will do it.

I once had a 10.5 lb 577 3" that I bought brand new. It took 100 rounds to loosen it up so it would work like it should.

I ran out of friends willing to shoot it before it was ready.
