Leather cartridge Wallets / Belts and Case Corrosion

I have what would be considered some “good quality” leather accessories for carrying my cartridges. Leather pouches with fitted cartridge loops, leather wallets for .375 and .450/.400, belts for some others including shot shell belts. The leathers are different from the different sources and makers, but the sources would be considered reputable for quality.
My issue is fast working corrosion of the brass shells after only a few days in the leather loops. What causes this and what can I do to the leather to prevent or slow down the corrosion?
I have tried a couple things, but none have worked so far. I am sure there is great knowledge in the audience of this forum and I value your assistance.
