I have a technical question about this type of scope/mount setup.
When were the mounts soldered on the tube on these oldsters?
I would think that solder heat might damage the interior parts/seals or at least cause a shift in tolerances and subsequent moisture ingress, but evidently not?
Anybody know how these were assembled?
Also, what are the seals/gaskets made of in these old scopes?
