3 years before first crop which is minor. 4 years to first decent yield. Maybe 6 to 7 years before more maturity in the crop is experienced. However that is variable and depends on conditions, location, variety etc
And for true "old vine" characteristics might start from 20 to 30 years to over a hundred years. There are vines more than a 150 years old in the Barossa.
