Yes please do.

The forend is probably attached to the plate that separates it from the action with full barrel to wood contact. The thread on the barrel probably has had grooves cut into them allowing a half turn of the barrel and forend to free the barrel. The catch on the forend holds and locks the barrel in place and prevents it turning.

Take a photo of the bottom of the forend too if you get the chance.
