The scope is a 2 1/2X Weaver steel tube (ala El Paso) microtrack. Maybe not as bright as a Zeiss but equally bullet proof. Reticule is a post w/crosshair...a personal favorite. A real bonus to using this action was the tiny firing pins and great trigger pulls...2 1/2 lb rt and 3 lb left. Action internal parts were all polished and really as nicely finished as most Brit guns. Don't know if all early Sauers were so nicely made, but expect they were. A surprise when I cut the stock to fit the kick eez pad was a 1/4" lead dowel in the butt. My assumption is that Sauer attained "perfect balance" by adding this small amount of weight...a testament to their quest for quality. Another interesting aspect to the gun...apparently the gun spent at least one of the world wars in England. Someone defaced all writing that suggested it's German origins. This was a bit of a challenge to blend the scratched places with the engraving. When all else failed, fine stippling was used to effect the blending. Original checkering was around 24 lpi and I didn't trust my impatience to do justice to the gun...so the checkering was redone by a profesional. My investment in the gun was so low, a bit spent on checkering was "chump change."
