: The hollow-base pins can be turned down for thicker skirts. The result, of course, is heavier slugs. The smooth-sided slugs can be rolled on a soft surface with a very coarse wood-rasp. This will impress cuts that hold lubricant, and also results in expanding the sides of the slug to large diameter. This I know from doing this very thing with the mould I bored for my 14 bore muzzleloading rifle. As cast, the hollow based slugs came out at .685"(bored with a modified 11/16" drill at .687") diameter in pure lead, and rolling them with the rasp, increased the diameter to .692" so they engraved in the .690" bore and were held straight.
; The reason for this inquiry, is that if the slugs come form the Lyman or Lee mould at .710", they might be increased in size to the point that paper patching could make them fit a 12 bore rifled bore correctly. Turning down the plunger pin would also increase the weight to perhaps 1-1/4 ounce. These should shoot well in bore guns with 70" or slower twists.
