heat the blade to 860 degrees C and hold att that temp for 5-10 min so that it´s 860 thruout the whole blade,
after that you quench it in 20 degree oil (lightweight oil... example olive oil)
then you temper the blade att 200 degrees for 2 hours.
thats what the instructions say that i got of the guy who makes the damascus.
