Barrel sleeving and barrel lining

Excuse my idiocy,

But what is the difference, pray tell?

A sleeve would seem to be a tube of metal in regards to a gun barrel, or?

Lining seems very obvious......or is it?

Im thinking of a slim barrel tube,inserted into original barrels with space cut out.....
